No - Wait - Don't Do It !!!  

The following are bad ideas - dangerous bad habits - you shouldn't do these things.

  • Don't forget to log-in or check which account you are using when you sit down
  • Don't forget to bring a notebook and a pen to the computer lab
  • Don't trust your memory - write notes in your notebook
  • Don't save directly on the Z: drive - you'll lose your work if the network crashes
  • Don't pull your USB stick out of the slot without ejecting it properly (green arrow) -
    you can lose files if you do that
  • Don't try to print a file at 8:30 before school - do it earlier with more time
  • Don't print at school if you can print at home - it's easier and quicker at home
  • Don't let the computer choose the file-name when you are saving - type it yourself
  • Don't type blank spaces and punctuation marks in file-names
  • Don't save in My Documents or My Pictures - that's not reliable - save on D:
  • Don't forget to make an extra back-up copy of your files before quitting
  • Don't leave the computer with logging-out - don't just leave the computer running
  • Don't share your password with other people - not even your friends
  • Don't use floppy diskettes if you have something better and faster (USB stick)
  • Don't forget to write down the disk-drive, folder, and file-name when you save
  • Don't work in a hurry - work carefully and intelligently
  • Don't save files in MS-Works or other incompatible formats - .DOC or .RTF are best
  • Don't download cracks or pirated software - it's illegal, and it might break your computer
  • Don't install software at school without permission
