Seoul is largely divided into Kangnam (south side from main river) and Kangbuk (north side from main river).
I believe that Kangbuk is more enjoyable place for shopping, and Dongdaemun place is the representing place for shopping in Kangbuk.

Dongdaemun

Dongdaemun is the biggest shopping place in Kangbuk of Seoul. Dongdaemun includes many big buildings which are only for shopping, and the tourists can spend whole day there. There are many small and big restaurants around those shopping centers, as well, so the tourists can eat something with small amount of money.

The main shopping buildings in Dongdaemun are Doota, Miliore, Freya Town, and Hellow apM. There are more markets such as Heungin Stardom, Designer Club, Jeil peace Market, Gwanghee Fashion Mall, Miliore Valley and Nuzzon.

Shopping tips for Dongdaemun place

* Huge shopping malls are jam-packed during the weekends and evening. If possible, enjoy your shopping in a leisurely way during the weekdays and daytime..

* Visit several shops to compare prices for specific items. Shops that have the same appearance are located everywhere, so it is helpful to write down the shop number (every shop has its own number.) to find it later.

* Exchange is allowed, but refunds are not guaranteed. Also, shops mostly dealing with the wholesalers do not provide a dressing room. Make sure to check the quality and size carefully before you pay.

* When paying in cash, try haggling over the price.

* You might get 10% discount by bargaining, but many shops fix prices.

Doosan Tower, also called Doota, and Miliore are the biggest ones of those buildings above. They are also representing Dongdaemun place. Whenever I go back to Seoul, Korea for vacation, I always spend one day in this place. When people start to feel tired of walking around this crowded place, they decide to sit in any restaurant to eat something and take rest. After they take enough pause, they go back to the place. I suggest you to go to Dongdaemun place in late time. This place is famous with night markets, and I believe it's more enjoyable to spend whole night till morning in Dongdaemun place rather than in afternoon. There are also many tourists found around here. It is generally known that the best shopping place for foreigners is Itaewon, but I think Dongdaemun place is much better, since there are more products to look around and they are cheaper than in Itaewon.
