The Computer Science Internal Assessment Dossier (project) is a long, time consuming project. It counts approximately one-third of the final IB mark (along with 2 written examinations.) The project has 4 stages (sections), to be completed in September, November, January, and February. Some class time will be available for each stage, but students must also work at home - the work cannot all be done during class. Stage 3 (writing the program) is the most time-consuming, so ALL the class time in January will be spent writing the computer program. However, the class-time available is not sufficient for completing the program. Students MUST plan on working at home, and take advantage of class time to get help from the teacher.
Presentation (running
the program) : 30 min Interview
with the teacher,
scheduled between
17 Mar and 27 Mar, 2009

Each of the 4 stages will be assessed separately and will receive a grade - these grades are part of the normal class work and are included in trimester reports.
The final, complete project (all 4 stages together) will be marked separately and the mark submitted to the IBO as the Internal Assessment mark. The completed project would normally contain the same stages that were submitted earlier, but these may also be re-worked before submitting the final version. In most cases this will only involve reformatting, but there might be some changes in the goals which affect all sections of the project. Reworking these sections will not affect the previously written grades, but could improve the final IA mark.
